His Mercies Are New

Lamentations 3:22-23

Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

These words come from Lamentations, a book of grief over Jerusalem's destruction. In the midst of ashes and tears, the prophet finds anchor: God's mercies are new. Every morning. Not leftover mercies, reheated from yesterday. Fresh mercies. New compassions. Sufficient for this day's specific challenges. Yesterday's failures do not deplete today's supply. God's faithfulness stretches across the worst circumstances. His mercies greet you new this morning. Will you receive them?

Am I living under yesterday's condemnation or today's fresh mercy?

Each morning this week, begin by declaring: "God's mercies are new today."

Yesterday is over. Today's mercies are new. Great is God's faithfulness.
