Guarding Alignment Over Approval
“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God?”
—
As alignment becomes visible, approval becomes louder.
Opinions surface. Expectations grow. Feedback multiplies. Some of it is helpful. Some of it is well-meaning. Some of it quietly pulls you off center. This is where refinement becomes essential.
Scripture names this tension directly. You cannot steward alignment and approval with equal devotion. One will eventually dominate the other.
Paul writes these words after experiencing both acceptance and resistance. He understood that approval shifts. Alignment endures. When approval leads, decisions become reactive. When alignment leads, decisions become grounded.
Guarding alignment does not mean ignoring people. It means discerning whose voices shape your direction. It means listening without surrendering clarity.
Jesus consistently chose alignment over acceptance. He did not adjust His mission to avoid misunderstanding or rejection. This allowed His life to remain coherent, even when response was mixed.
At this stage, refinement protects your freedom. It keeps you from being pulled in too many directions by others' expectations.
You are not called to be agreeable. You are called to be faithful.
Where might I be tempted to prioritize approval over alignment?
Notice one moment today where you choose integrity over pleasing others.
Speak This Truth
“I guard alignment with courage and clarity. I remain faithful to what I am called to carry.”
